Whoever thought of the "Shave 'Em to Save 'Em" program deserves the sheep equivalent to a Nobel Prize. What better way to celebrate and preserve rare livestock than by making it a scavenger hunt? With PRIZES!
For those who may be unfamiliar, the SE2SE initiative is a Livestock Conservancy program where fiber artists are given a "passport" to stamp and prizes for working with certain numbers of rare breeds. You can learn more about it here: https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/involved/internal/SE2
I just got my own passport, and I have issued myself a challenge: make a signature Vegetarian Viking piece for every breed on the Rare Breed sheep list. For each breed, I'll post pictures and my thoughts on how the fleece was to work with. Some pieces I will likely even sell as limited editions.
I'm incredibly excited about this project, and hope that you will follow me in my adventure!
